The Reynosa Literacy Project

Rise Up And Read in partnership with Solidarity Engineering  is working to promote early literacy and attachment in the refugee camps in Reynosa, Mexico through:

  • Book distribution and reading prescriptions to refugee families

  • Creation of a library/ safe reading space in a refugee shelter

  • Patient facing website to be accessed via cell phone with books and associated thought questions for children.

Graduate students in speech pathology,  Melissa and Daniela, share their service learning project - and provide an excellent explanation for the linkage between literacy and healthy emotional development.

The Solidarity Engineering team is breaking ground on the new playground.   It will contain a safe and comfortable place for reading.
Meet Charles, and listen to him explain what this project means to the community.
