Rise Up and Read (RUR) as of May 2024 has two projects up and running as of May 2024.  Each project begins with a needs assessment to understand from where the people come, the languages spoken, the population of adults and children - and any other details relevant to the encampment.   RUR then identifies local partners, trains them how to run pop-up libraries and supplies the books and materials.   RUR also distributes reading prescriptions to parents and QRS codes that link smart phones to websites with children's books tailored for reading aloud.

REYNOSA, MEXICO.
This is a large permanent camp near the US border with a wide mix of refugees.   Solidarity Engineering has built a dedicated safe space for the pop-up library.  It has been running monthly libraries since May 2023.
MEXICO CITY.
This encampment is situated in a residential area near downtown Mexico City.  RUR has partnered with graduate program students at CIDE (Centro de Invetigacion y Docencia Economicas) in Mexico City.   This encampment has a high proportion of Haitians.   RUR brought books in Creole for a pop-up library in February 2024 while the graduate students have initiated a field assessment to learn more about this encampment.
